Editorial policy
Modern News Spotlight aims to make visual culture clearer without flattening its context. We distinguish what can be observed from what is interpreted, and we correct published errors plainly.
Accuracy and context
Writers should check names, dates, terminology and other factual details against reliable material appropriate to the subject. Articles should explain the limits of their examples and avoid presenting a single image or design convention as proof of a universal rule. Where a point is interpretive, the wording should make that clear.
Independence and corrections
Editorial decisions are made for clarity, relevance and reader interest, not to promise favourable coverage. If readers identify an error, they can contact us with the article title and the detail in question. We review correction requests and update material when warranted, making substantive changes clear to readers.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid, gifted or otherwise partner-supported material is identified clearly where it appears, so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial coverage. Partnerships do not guarantee a particular editorial conclusion. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where that is the case, they are identified and are not presented as documentary photographs.
Design is a way of seeing.
We look past the surface to notice how form, context and visual choices shape meaning.
